MAPS's founder & CEO Heather Morrison will join Chicago Department of Buildings Commissioner Judy Frydland and Jenny Han, Director of Design Operations at Skender, in a "fireside chat" to discuss the cost and design impacts of the updated Chicago Building Code.
The panel, organized by Bisnow, is being hosted by Skender in their modular buildings factory in South Lawndale on Thursday, May 30. The full program begins at 8 AM and Heather, Jenny, and Judy will speak at 10:20 AM.
Who better to hear from about the updated Chicago Building Code than the woman who spearheaded its adoption and two of the stakeholder committee members. The stakeholder committee, in addition to six technical committees, guided the Chicago Department of Buildings through the important code update and revision process.
Heather was instrumental in helping Bisnow organize the panel to include two other great speakers in the AEC industry. After 18 years working on design teams as a project architect and manager, in 2014 Heather founded a new role in the industry as compliance partner that helps MAPS’s clients streamline design and save time and money.
Of course, we know that Commissioner Judy Frydland is responsible for the herculean effort to modernize Chicago's 70-year-old building code.
Jenny Han is a licensed architect and oversees healthcare design at Skender. She also helped the company develop their modular buildings practice, which has been in the news for its potential to rapidly deploy new multi-family housing – that's built in Chicago – to properties in Chicago.
