MAPS created a housing study for the northern area of Bronzeville on Chicago’s South Side, as well as adjacent areas. We’re gracious to the client for allowing us to make the study public, so anyone in the area can benefit from the information.
The study has a number of maps that show where occupied residences are, where renters live, where there are known affordable housing developments, and where household incomes are the highest. It also includes the Institute of Housing Studies’s map of “displacement pressure” (a kind of gentrification warning signal).
Like the whole of Chicago, households in the study area are majority renter-occupied, and almost half of those households are paying 30 percent or more of their household income in rent.
That’s just one of the insights in our Bronzeville housing study.
MAPS can help neighborhood organizations and real estate developers understand market conditions in any part of Cook County. Contact us to to talk about your project and what information and data you need to help you fine tune it.
